Here's something to think about!

After reading the articles about what the government intends to do to help the banks if they get in trouble again, i have to say i am disgusted with why the banks won't lend money. I'm not angry with the banks for not lending, i'm annoyed with people who use every trick in the book to get debts written off. Why on earth would a bank lend money to people if they think they are not going to get it back? Would you? If people paid their debts/loans/cards banks would be lending as per normal. Like i've said previously people who have claimed back charges will, in my opinion, struggle to get decent banking facilities, as they will be marked as bad customers. Lending will be made watertight and you most likely be spoken to like an 'idiot' so that you are in no doubt as to what you are taking out and agreeing to, so that you can't wriggle out of paying by asking for the agreement, which is years old and can't be produced. I know this will be controversial but would like your opinions as well.

  • I understand your p.o.v but it's clear to me that bank charges are disproportionate in relation to how much they cost the bank to administer etc. I know you sign up to an account knowing the charges, but how many people knew before the media storm that the banks were possibly breaking laws regarding proportionate charges?

I was a "bad customer" while a student (in 3 years I ran up £672 of charges, but no other debts) but now I've got quite a hefty chunk of money saved and if the banks want to call me a bad customer if I'm successful claiming those charges back, then so be it, I'll take my money somewhere else!

Not contraversial really, its been an ongoing issue for ages. I wouldn't condone walking away from paying what you owe, but the banks have only themselves to blame. It has all come about because of their own greed & recklessness.
If they hadn't been ripping people off in all manor of ways and treating their 'customers' with such contempt, the agreement request thing would probably never have happened..
  • Yes i did start this thread yesterday but could'nt see it so reposted it.
