B&Q do a lovely black and sparkly worktop called Speedstone Quartz, with a composition of 93% natural quartz. Not sure of the price for your size but am sure you could give them a ring on 0845 609 6688 and they will tell you. Good luck
  • B&q will only sell if your having their kitchens as well. thanks anyway.

How about Wickes. Their breakfast bars are exactly the size you are looking for they do this one:

for £136.04 which sounds better than over £1000! But that is just a laminate
Unfortunatly a Maia surface which is really nice:

doesn't quite come in your size. Or you could buy something like these:

    and cut them down

    think twice before going laminate.
we did and they show every little scratch, even the fitters hate them, his words. youve paid for it im fitting it , and the zip on my jeans on stud on the pocket rub as im laying it on, it will scratch, you will then want a new top. ok they come plastic covered but i bet within a week it will have a mark. they also show handprints like no ones business.

  • I've found out that Speedstone is the brand name and it covers Granite, Quartz and Solid Surface worktops sold by B&Q.

It's only supplied/installed by B&Q because it needs to be fitted by trained installers.

B&Q tell me that ALL installers must be trained by Sheridan Fabrications (www.sheridan-uk.com), the manufacturer, prior to them being able to install.

I've also been told that B&Q will sell on a supply only basis to trade kitchen fitters, not the general public, if they can prove they've been on the training course, they get a certificate once the course has been completed.

If you're thinking of looking at other products then give Sheridan a try, they're the largest fabricator in Britain and having seen their prices there very reasonable as well, a friend of mine had them fit her kitchen out and she was over the moon with the service.:j
  • There is a guy selling these tops on Ebay ,much cheaper than B & Q ,got to be worth a look and you dont have to buy a kitchen
