Help again please!

Hi everyone,

Due to your help and support after my last post, I've done it and booked to go to court next Tues (27th) I am absolutely terrified, and hoping it will be ok. Its 3 days before my baby is due, so I'm praying he'll hang on in there till at least Weds!

I am completing my reason for bankruptcy at the back of the form, I've been scribbling away a draft, its 3 pages long... is this too much?? I wanted to give as much information as possible as my situation is pretty complicated. Whats the standard amount you should write?

Also what kind of thing should I wear to court, I've never done anything like this before and not sure what would be expected?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks again :p

Smart casual to court....3 pages is a lot try & be as straight & to the point if it still comes to 3 pages then so be..different people came to bankruptcy different ways so there is no "standard" ammount of words for a reason to bankruptcy

    Good luck!

  • I would wear something smart personally - maternity of course ;-), i'm planning on wearing black trousers and a nice top (something i'd wear to work so not over the top).

Hope baby waits for you - do you want it done and dusted so you can enjoy your new baby?? Only reason why I am asking is because your OR interview will be within a couple of weeks - I know how I felt with hormones etc just after having my two - don't think I could have coped with it so soon after.

Good luck with your baby bump and just think once this is all sorted you can enjoy your maternity leave with a fresh financial start xx

    Hi Freeme,
Firstly if like me you have never been to court I would try and enjoy it. I know that sounds daft, but I was in awe of the whole court experience and found it amazing. Far from being worried sick, I let the day flow over me. Be guided by the court officals and it will be soon over. Afterwards, it was a bit of an anti climax, and I thought "so what was that about"
As for the dress code, smart casual is best. I did not even take my coat off!
Put as much info on your SOA as you can without waffling, the OR will thank you for it. It means he is not trying to dig the info out of you. Others may say different, and I guess its a matter of choice, but it worked for me.
Try not to worry too much, everything passes, even this. Good luck, deep breath, go girl!
  • Thanks for all of your replies, so smart casual it is then! I'm going to have to get my needle out and adapt some of my pre pregnancy clothes to fit my ever expanding tum!

With regards to the OR interview, after the hell I've been through the last year I've kind of got to the point where I really don't feel that anything could get any worse, kind of numb so to speak. The worst he can throw at me is a BRO, and I've accepted my fate. I've been through a very difficult pregnancy, care for my disabled husband, been evicted from our home, miles away from friends and family and just about to give birth.. I don't really see what else they can throw at me! (Very melodramatic I know!)

But on a positive note, I'm really looking forward to coming out the otherside and being able to provide the best care for my hubby and newborn baby.

Thanks again for your kind words everyone, its very reassuring x
