Consent to Let/Lease with Halifax

Hi,

We are in a situation where we have decided to let our present house instead of selling, to enable us to move to a new house.
We have got an advance on our present mortgage with the Halifax to give us the deposit on our new let to buy mortgage with the Abbey.

We are now in the situation where we need to advise the Halifax that we intend to let out the house.

Unfortunately we are on a rather tight time scale as we originally accepted an offer on our house 6 months ago but 5 months down the line the buyer pulled out. The chain held on for us over the Christmas break as long as we could complete quickly in the New Year as we have decided to let the property.

Our question is, does anyone have any expereince with getting permission from the Halifax to let their property and how likely are we to get this? Also will we need to change to a different product to enable us to do this?!

Please help!!

Emily

You need to ring Halifax as the decision will be taken based on your own circumstances.

    Correct.

It is difficult to second guess what lenders are going to say these days.

Can't see them not letting you do it, but they might want to charge you a fee or bump the rate up a bit.
