if you can work out the catalogue number, exact date and approximate time that you bought it then it's worth going back to the store where you purchased it and let them know all these details...they're not obligated to replace it but may take pity on you! do you have the box with the catalogue number on it? if so, they're much more likely to sort something out...
    good luck!x

If you have the original box + it has the white paper details taped to the side then take it in + their should trace back to when you bought it + you should get an exchange

  • Unfortunately we don't keep them kind of records. There's just no way to put that info through the till systems (not sure about the new system though, we haven't got it at our store yet).

Got some good news and bad news for you.

Argos will only take back the item or replace if you have the following...

Proof of purchase (i.e statement from payment or receipt)
Replacement if item shows catalogue number... if a replacement is unavailable then you will get a gift card. However, this will probably not equal the amount you paid for the item. As their policy is to refund at the lowest price they have sold the item - onto gift card only.

    Hope this helps.

This is the policy for all items, except those exempt.
Word of advice, console games can be replaced at the discretion of manager providing the game is still sealed and in a condition you would be happy to purchase.
Each store is different, but if all else fails... contact customer services and tell them a relative bought it for them (touch wood it never happens to anyone) but they have since passed away.

No receipt + sob story = success!

    Good luck

Italic reference is just an example - having been in retail, you get to hear all sorts of stories - and you cannot discredit the customer even if you think they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

anything i have bought from argos usually has a sticker on it with the catalogue number check the box and see if you find it. that could help prove its from argos.

  • Give it a go. I bought an item and lost the receipt, but it developed a fault. I had also paid in cash. I was able to tell them the exact date and time I bought it as it was my birthday and I did it just before the school run. They told me they only kept records for 6 months in store but to contact customer services. I did this and they arranged for the item to be returned and replaced in my local store.
