in Cutting tax
Heya,
I'm filling in my tax for the 2007/2008 year (cutting it fine i know :money:) and just wondered what to claim back?
I bought a new laptop in the year for work, but that's about it.
How much of the laptop can I claim back in one go this year?
Also, can I claim back a portion of Internet costs, considering I use it for home use too?
Bearing in mind I don't have a separate room in my home as an office, anything else I should think about claiming?
Thanks in advance for any help with stopping the greedy tax man taking my precious pennies :j

For new equipment you can put in a claim for 50% of the value.
For your other question, I'm not too sure.
I was told a while ago by someone from HMRC that you can claim £3 a week - without needing any receipts - for using your house as an office for doing your weekly accounts.
However I'm not sure which box on the SA that needs to go in.0 -
You have already said that previous posts here are unhelpful to you so I suggest you call HMRC, read the notes to their forms or read their website.
Generally speaking, one drafts a business plan at the outset so one calculates the likely turnover, insurance, risks and costs (including tax) of running a business.0
