I've been looking through threads and a few people recently have mentioned drinking cocoa rather than hot chocolate. It doesn't seems to dissolve in hot water the way my hot choc does, so how do I do it and will there be sludgy bits in the bottom?-I don't mind sludgy bits but would rather know in advance and then hopefully not get a big mouthful at the end!

I always put the cocoa powder in the mug with sugar if you want it, then mix with a small amount of cold milk till its mixed up together, then add either all hot milk or half milk/water... you will get a sludge in the bottom of the cup I guess thats cos its pure cocoa powder... It goes a lot further than hot chocolate so you only need about one teaspoon of cocoa not 2 or 3 as with hot chocolate..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Yes, you mix a tsp of cocoa with a little milk into a paste. This is actually quite hard to do-the cocoa is a weird substance and resistant to being mixed with liquid (like cornflour), you have to keep at it until you get a paste. Then pour on the hot milk and add sweetening/or not of choice. A dusting of cinnamon is nice too.0

As Tanith says, you need to mix it to a paste with a small amount of water or milk - but make sure you do only use a small amount of water or milk , otherwise the cocoa powder tends to sit on top of the water or milk and refuses to dissolve into it to form the paste.....
Edited to add that thriftlady has explained it beautifully!0 -
I always mix mine with a little hot water to form a paste then I add my hot milk and sugar, but I always keep the teaspoon and stir it whilst drinking.April grocery challenge week1 £39.91/£40:T week 2 £41.17 /£40 week 3 £41.96/£40 week 4 /£400
