I have bought son an mp3 player but need a memory card.

Hi,
I don't know anything about mp3 players. My son wanted one for Christmas and I bought him one. Unfortunately it was too big (he wasn't being spoilt, it really is too big to carry around) so I said I would use it and buy him another one.
While I was buying my ink cartridges from 7day shop I noticed they had an mp3 player for £8.99. I ordered it and it came and it looks fab - unfortunately, although it said in big letters that I would need to buy a memory card I didn't read that bit.
My poor lad is still waiting to listen to his music since Christmas but because I have spent a lot already I wanted the very cheapest memory card available. Because there are so many cards available I don't know which one to buy and wanted a bit of advice.
Thanks in advance,
Claire.
