Council Tax rebate (single person) for short term

Me, my wife and kids are staying in a house which is band E and the council tax is very high. Wife and kids are going out of country for 2 months, for this short term of their absence , can I get the 25% rebate from council on my council tax ? If yes then what do I need to do for that ?

If your wife's got an intention to return to the property then you won't be entitled to a single person discount as the property remains your wife's sole or main residence.

I presume that the property will be your wife's sole or main residence on her return and during her absence some of her possessions will still remain there. If so there is no entitlement to 25% single person discount.

If you have grounds for believing Band E is too high (e.g. neighbours in similar houses in Band D) then you should contact Valuation Office Agency, relevant address on their website, and you can check neighbours' bands.
