Couple of quick questions

Hi , I am just putting the finishing touches to OH online forms and would like to know if this reason for the cause of BR sounds ok ?

I took on more credit than I could afford and started borrowing more to pay off others and to pay for day--to day expenses. which spirelled out of control . My wife became very depressed and suffered panic attacks and anxiety after the birth of both our children which meant she was unable to find work and things just got worse . I have learnt my lesson now and never want to be in a position like this again. I buried my head in the sand for to long and decided to seek professional advise from Payplan and CCCS who both recommended Bankruptcy .

Also on the SOA in the other essential paypents box do I put

car tax , car maintenance , mobile , hairdressing , t.v license , medical , car ins , holiday and other child related expenses ? anything else I should put in ?

Thank you

  • I'm not sure about that. I'd avoid admitting anything like "taking out more than you could afford", or "burying your head in the sand" and try not to be too emotive. Perhaps you could explain that after your second child, and with your wife unable to return to work, you found you could no longer meet your expenditure?

It's very tricky, particularly if there haven't been any obvious causes, but I would try to be a bit less open!

    Morning coco,

With your causes spiel try and harden it up a bit with dates and figures if you can. Not ultra specific but just to give a good general picture of the whole sorry story
It sounds like it has been very difficult for you both and hopefully BR will be the end of the bad stuff and the beginning of a debt free future.

With your SOA, try a small amount for presents, dentist, optician, breakdown service (car, not human!) dry cleaning.......

Have you posted it on here to let us have a look and for the clever ones to have a tweak?

  • Thank you both for your honest prompt replies , Sorry but I am not very good at writing things down lol ,
Does this sound any better or do I still need extra details put in

My problems started after the birth of our second child in October 2005 when my wife was unable to return to work due to severe depression and I had also had an accident at work in August 2005 so was off work for 4 months .
This meant I could no longer meet my expenditure and the demands of my creditors so I decided to seek professional help from Payplan and CCCS who both recommended bankruptcy.

You should probably put something in to cover 2005 to now, along the lines of

I continued to struggle for some time thinking the situation would improve until in December(?) 2008 I realised I could no longer cope with the situation
so I decided to seek professional help from Payplan and CCCS who both recommended bankruptcy.

I'm not very good at this :o

    I think so.

Some people write war & peace, others are more minimalist. Personally I went for the minimalist option, thinking if they want more info they could ask;)

Yes so did i:D . I did a brief account on the SOA and then sent a 2 page account giving dates, reasons ect that led to my insolvency.

Adc says the more info you put on your SOA the less they need to ask at the interview,if you need one;)
