Not sure if this is in the correct section, but it may be relevent.
I am getting worried about my job as are many people, but i have been giving thought to redoing my CV and am not sure about my employment history. There are plenty of sites with information on how to do the layout and what content to put in, but i am not too sure what companies i worked for and when i worked for them (many computer crashes ago). Can anyone advise on how to get the details of your employment history, or if this is even possible? What do others do in this situation?
thanks
George

HMRC might provide a history for the past 6 years if you ask them nicely, but really, this is down to you.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

Thanks for that. I was a litle concerned that this was going to be the reply - i've been with my current employer for over 6 years. Had it on the computer but the harddrive was unrecoverable and there were alot of temping jobs a while back. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I wouldn't worry too much about jobs over half a decade old unless, like me, you're moving back into a career and it's your previous jobs that will make a difference. I'd just hazard a guess and put say, March 1999-May 2001. TBH, I think that once you get to 10 years, they're not interested after that anyway.
Regarding the temping jobs, if they were all for one or two agencies, put the agency name down and the start date as the date you started doing work for the agency and the finish when you left, not when each individual placement was. Put something in the duties description like "working for a variety of clients (including a couple of names for big companies)".Conor

I wouldn't be too worried about putting in loads of temp jobs, just make sure all the major months are covered. Employers mostly just check employment history to make sure there are no "missing years" since they (perhaps unjustfiably so) worry this indicates a "troubled" past. (an undeclared spell in prison, for instance)0

Do they really think you have been in prison with blank spaces in your CV?The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0
