Just yesterday I bought a Vodafone prepay sim card from a shop for £5 with the intention of using msn messenger on my mobile (Samsung e720). The guy in the shop assured me no problems.
Now, I actually work for technical support for o2, but full internet access isn't possible on prepay so I bought the sim to use for data only. It came with £1 credit, and I topped up a fiver.
I put all the connection settings into my phone manually and connected to the vodafone homepage. The only problem was that it took on average five minutes to connect which meant I couldn't use my msn messenger - it timed out.
I rang Vodafone from my handset like it says to in the introduction booklet. I paid 25p to get through to some oik who refused to help other than saying that his phone connected in 30 seconds and maybe it was my coverage (it isn't, I live in Leeds city centre). He refused to double check the settings with me or call me back on another phone so I could read them off my screen. I admit I got rather annoyed and hung up as I was getting nowhere.
It's o2's policy to help out when a customer has a technical problem - I always call customers back no matter what the number or where they are in the world. I set up numerous customers for mobile internet connections, with their PDA's, laptops and etc, and I expected Vodafone to help me as I help my customers.
Now I'm stuck with a Vodafone sim I can't use for it's intended purpose and £10 down. I'm annoyed, to say the least!

I have also had problems with Vodafone in the past - I left them for Orange in August last year - and when I still kept getting texts from Vodafone I contacted them more than once and tried to get them to stop them and they said - more than once - we have stopped them - and they hadnt. In the end I rang Orange again and they managed to get it sorted - dont know how - whether they got in touch with Vodafone but they managed.
Glad I left Vodafone to put it politely now!
