dental treatment - private or nhs?

i have a private dentist and for a small white filling it costs me £60 and for a large one i pay £80. I also have never looked back since going private. I put aside £20 each month to cover any work i need done. I too am scared of the dentist but my lady dentist knows this and is very careful with me - she even said on my last visit (in november) that i dont shake half as much as i used to!!0

First time I went the nurse held my hand just for the examination
Now she doesnt need to - but I sometimes realise Im sitting there stiff as a board. 0 -
I have just been quoted £270 for 5 white fillings, for 1 pre molar and 4 molars. I'm not sure if this is good or not, I thought it sounded quite reasonable. Annoying thing is I have NHS dental insurance so I am paying that for nothing if I have white fillings.Fashion on a ration 0 of 660

That sounds very reasonable as my dentist charges £72 for a white filling to molarA chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -

Horace, your private dentist sounds very reasonable! I think thats virtually what NHS charge?
My dentist is a University dentist - he sees students as NHS patients but other people as private patients. I first saw him when an old colleague of mine dragged me along when I had a massive abscess which burst on the way to the dental practice, I haven't looked back:D0 -
You are very fortunate0
