Help returing goods

Hi
I recently brought guitar hero from HMV online. It arrived today and after using it for a while it is not working correctly as some of the buttons are sticking. I have checked the website and for me to send it back i have to post it to Gursey!!
I was wondering if i would beable to take it back to my local HMV store to change it for another one.

Thanks
Sue

No you cannot, their returns policy is clear:
Should you receive any items that you did not order, or that prove to be faulty, you can return them to the following address, provided you are returning the item from within the UK:
    hmv Customer Returns
    Freepost 241
    Guernsey
    GY1 5SS
Please enclose a note quoting your order number and specifying whether you require the correct item to be sent out, or a refund.

But under the Distance Selling Regulations you should be able to get postage costs refunded to you as it is faulty.

It is advisable to send it by registered mail though, they will not accept responsibility for items lost in transit too them, but they usually will refund that if you ask nicely.
