Hi there, new here but not so new if you know what i mean, im a great fan of this website but never had the nerve to post, but im going for it today as i really would like some support please and any advice you may offer, my head is very much sick of spinning now.
God where to start!
2007 was the worst year of our entire life, OH got made redundant, tried every which way to keep house, contacted CAB and other debt companies to help us go in the right direction. In the end push came to shove we had the date for the courts for repossesion, we wernt answering phonecalls or knocks on the door, it got unbearable, no food on the table for the kids or us, was horrendus (not looking for sympathy just trying to give you a picture). Went to the local council which looking back now i think they were scare mongering but whatever it worked, they told us we would have to wait for the baliffs to come to our door before we would be allocated anything and then it may be a bedsit, no way was i putting the kids threw that!. Anyway to cut a long story short we ended up just packing our things and leaving the house (hindsight we shouldve sat it out but we were so scared of the unknown)and moving half way across the country in to rented property. leaving all the debts behind us (stupidly i know, really wished wed gona bankrupt in the house before we moved, but then we had no money to do it).
Anyways a year later after the move, OH has found a job and all is going well, we dont have masses coming in but were happy, apart from the past still wiring round in our heads, the thought that we left it all behind and now want ridence once and for all. New life and all that, is that really possible?
The money we have coming now just covers the rent electricy, gas, food etc.
Debt wise we did owe about 140k on the house but im sure now with interest and solicitors fees i could owe a lot more. We had a credit card and owe about 1600, a few catalogues, and electricity plus all the interst on top of these. All which i would love to pay of right now but cant afford to.
Do you think we would be able to apply for bankruptcy because were not living in that property anymore, and how will it effect me living here in rented. I dont want ever again to have a loan or a credit card anyways so were not worried about that side, we only have basic bank accounts so i dont think they will close that will they? dont owe that bank anything?
Is there another way around this do you think, we cant sleep and we would just like closure of our old life and live the new to the fullest.
I appreciate all your comments, thankyou for taking the time to read, and im hoping ive put this in the right place lol.

Your current living situation is not an issue, but you would be wise to make sure the rent is up to date.
Re bank accounts, only two now accept people who are undischarged bankrupts, so you may have to open another account. Coop Cashminder is often used.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Im in a mess too and with 3 young children I know all about the worries of the effect all of this has on them! Did you just up and leave or did you keep in touch with all creditors?

This will probably sound awful, but we just up and left. Not saying its the right thing for you, but for us i really felt like we had no choice you know. Theres only one company that has found us so far, but i think it will always be in our heads till we make a closure!
Really sorry to hear your going through it at the mo, my children kept me strong most the time, and now they still dont know what happened they just thought it was a big adventure and moving house which is exaclty what i wanted. Good luck on what you decide babe, just remember be strong x
Just thought id add:-we had tried every way to keep the house, but the mortgage company wouldnt let us have a payment holiday or reduce our payments, the dole wouldnt help till husband had been signing on for 6 months, but the problem there was he had a job for 2 weeks in the middle which made it invalid for us to claim. We had the car repossed because we couldnt afford to keep up the repayments and wed offered the other companies minimum payments which we struggled to pay for a while, untill i was sick of the kids eating noodles for there tea. We were in touch with the national debt helpline too and were very helpful it was just that the mortgage people that didnt want to help whatso ever unfortunatly.May you always discover within you the freedom to be who you are, the courage to believe in your dreams, and the faith to follow your heart.
