Renting and moving while BR?

Anyone got time to give me their opinion?

My HA flat is only leased to them (it is privately owned) and although I have lived in it for 5 years I would prefer a property that is owned by them and therefore giving me a long term secured tenancy. My present tenancy agreement is short term (only because of the ownership issue).

Should another flat come up while I am still BR, am I OK to move?
The problem is I am almost sure that the rent would be higher, my present flat is second floor and tiny.

Could I adjust my SOA, and look to cover the extra rent with a little extra work or is it all set in stone after the OR interview?

I know it is more practical to wait until I am discharged but there is no telling when a property just might come available........

Any views or experiences?

SA, you can move whenever you like. The OR wouldn't expect you to turn down secure housing. Well, as long as they don't offer you a 6 bed, 3 bath, 2 reception house ;)

If you are lucky enough to get an offer you just tell the OR and submit a new SoA, nothing of your SoA is set in stone.

    Thanks peachy,

Won't they ask how I can suddenly come up with some extra income to cover the shortfall?

I'm sure if you were to get a nice new home you'd sacrifice a bit off your food and clothing budget to make ends meet ;)
