Credit card loan Vs Regular Loan

Hey folks, I was wondering if someone could give me a few pointers? I am looking for a loan to help me pay off existing debts and also to buy a few things which i really need.
I am torn between going for a Credit card loan and a regular loan.
I would be grateful if someone could list the "pros" and "cons" of both loans to help me decide which is best.
Also, what are the chances of getting £5000-£6000 with the credit crunch and all that?
Thanks in advance.
