Ladies - best nursing bra?

Junior due in 4 weeks' time and the dreaded bra shopping (which I hate at the best of times!) begins. I plan to breastfeed so need a good nursing bra, I am ordinarily quite "womanly" in the chest area, so now that I'm preparing to feed I have become even more buxom!! So great support is a must.
Anyone recommend a good nursing bra? I would like it to be available in flesh colour if poss. And with smooth cups which won't show under a t-shirt. I am looking at one of the underwired ones from Anita Maternity as these are one of the few underwired styles available.
Any advice gratefully received!

Hi,
tbh I am not sure that you are supposed to wear underwired bras when bf, have you asked your midwife or bf clinc/drop in?
1st time round I bought nursing bras from Mothercare but as they were a spicific size I found that at certain times of the day they became uncomfortable i.e when lo was due a feed but enjoying a nice sleep! I also had to keep on getting new ones when my size changed.
When expecting no2 I found the nursing/maternity bras that are made by bravado excellent (I bought them for easy night feeding but found they offered me enough support during the day to wear as well) The thing that I found best is that it didn't matter if you had just fed/or were full and prodding babe so that you could feed them the bra at least was comfortable! I used them for no3 too and will use them again soon.
http://www.bras4mums.co.uk/nursing-bras/bravado/cat_23.php I haven't used this site before but they have loads more in the range now!
This was the only one they had back when I used them http://www.bras4mums.co.uk/nursing-bras/bravado-original-nursing-bra/prod_70.php and re support I was a S++
Best wishes to you both!0 -

Thanks, this Anita one is the only one I have seen which is underwired and specifically designed to be for breastfeeding (not sure what makes it safe, but apparently it is). I have worn bras with light underwiring throughout my PG (not every day though) and my milk started coming through at 18 weeks!
I will look at those sites, thank you xx0 -
I wore normal underwired bras I never did the nursing ones. Mothercare didn't do any to fit me (I'm a 30H) I was lucky though my size did not change the whole way through my pregnancy or nursing. In fact a year on and I'm still in the same size I didn't shrivel either. My Mum did buy me one from mothercare but for it to go over me she had to get a size 40 and I had it folded and safety pinned at the sides. So as you can imagine I had no support at all.0

Hi Sarah,
My little boy is 8 months old now and I have been nursing him since he was born. I have needed several styles of bra, one that I love now was really uncomfortable in the first few months. It was from Mothercare and although not underwired, it is quite stiff material and very supportive. I think until my supply evened out and my body became used to what he needed I was more comfortable with a soft cup which I bought from M&S in a twin pack. (It allowed for the more 'fuller moments' in the early days - oh the joys!)
Have you looked on www.figleaves.com? They have a fabulous nursing collection, including underwired bra's and still have a few in the sale. Just make sure you get measured a in couple of different places before buying so you have the correct size.
Best of luck and congratulations on your impending bundle!

Hi Sarah,
Not sure if you have your bras now but the next I found for my G sized chest was the one with almost full cup support. Freya make a couple of fantastic ones and as they do not have those elastic things on the side they last much longer. There is one called Freya Dotty and Freya Rosalie. HTH.

hi sarah.
i have been buying mine from mark and spencer, they are comfortable0 -
I would recommend the Freya, I thought these were very comfortable. I also found underwired bras when breastfeeding really uncomfortable, even though I wore them throughout my preganancy.0

M&S bras are not really suited for the larger lady, they do not give the support, this is why I would recommend Freya. The support on the breast is fantastic, they are the same style of bra I bought from the US when BF, the breast is enclosed and just the nipple area is exposed to feed the baby. When you are feeling sore and tender the support really does help, especially for larger sizes, and takes the weight off, which you often need. The lighter weight bras give some bounce and when you are feeling tender it is the very last thing you need. The Freya bras are quite expensive (around £25) but they should last for the entire time you are BF, rather than having to replace them.0

A company called Goddess also offer the same style bras that are very good support http://www.goddessbra.com/product.asp?range_id=593&season=cl2007 These bras run to an H cup and up to a 48 back size.0
