Apparently, today is the most depressing day of the year  ( apart from those birthdays, of course:D).
I certainly hope so!

Good day to bury bad news then
RBS loses £28billion in a YEAR as Darling warns British economy will collapse if second bank bailout fails0 -
It is a bad enough day as it is without you quoting from the Daily Mail!'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. That explains today then!
Hadn't renewed my metro pass this morning, got inspected (they never inspect on a morning!) and got a £20 penalty fare, found out my job will be part time instead of full time in a few weeks and just checked my library account to see it's been suspended because I have £30 in late fines. I'm having a terrible morning, at least i'm not the only one!I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -

Hi StevieJ old thing. Here's the same news from the WSJ:

Hopefully that's a little less depressing on a soggy winter's day.
Gonna be 35C here tomorrow. If you're broke then better to be broke in the sun!0 -

Well where I am the hottest on record was 46C I think (during a summer in the 30s that's the Aussie equivalent of 1976 in the UK).
In Sydney you get this nice 7 day cycle where it gets progressively hotter for 5 days and then you get some rain and 2 cool days. That's in summer. In winter it's 3 warm and 2 cool.
Up North it's kinda nice too. 30-32C every day with a little rain at 5pm every day pretty much. It gets jolly humid and very wet for a month in the New Year though. That's the time when people living up there go mad and kill each other.
The red centre is the bit I couldn't handle. 45C is far from unusual AIUI. A lot of those poor blighters haven't had rain in years. I heard a bloke on a radio phone in about what extravagant car you had around the place (think MG-B or mk 1 Mini) and they had a bloke on from the middle of Aus. He was a proper Aussie 'bloke'.
There's been some rain around his area this summer and the presenter asked him if he'd had any. The caller started to cry at that point.0 -
Yes, I was looking forward to some time today to get things done; instead, DD1 is off sick with bad asthma attack. So morning at the doctor's and £14.20 on 2 measly prescriptions also picked up for OH.
Illness is expensive.
Unless you're on benefits of course. Then it's free.0
