After using the link to write a letter of complain re a mis sold endowment I sent the letter to the offices of the financial adviser I used back in 1988 - he is now longer there - its the office of an the estate agent who is still there (and now another financial adviser). Should I have just send the letter to the (two) companies involved - i.e. Royal & Sun Alliance and Eagle Star -both these co's have been taken over now. Does anyone have any experience of these co's? Would be interested to hear.

If they were sales reps of R&SA and ES then you send them to those companies. If they were not sales reps of those companies, then you send them to the advising company.
If the estate agent is still there, they should give you the address you send the complaint to. As regulated financial services business takes place there, they are obliged to give that information to you.
Have you checked your dates in 1988? Is it before or after the cut off for complaints?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Thanks for your reply. The first one was taken out in February and the other 2 months later.0

Are you aware that regulation did not apply to policies sold prior to 29th April 1988 and that unless the advice company has accepted to voluntarily review pre 1988 cases, they can reject your complaint? If they were sold by independents, they will almost certainly be rejected from the outset.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Just my luck - the second endowment started on 28th April so I don't hold much hope.0

I TOO HAVE WRITTEN TO THE RESPECTIVE COMPANIES ABOUT BEING MISS-SOLD ENDOWEMENT POLICIES, ONE IN 89 AND 1 IN 2000. HOPEFULLY I MIGHT GET SOME SORT OF RESPONSE.
