what can we do

Options
Hi, In November a member of my family stupidly consulted debt free direct to help with their debt problems. however after realising how crap they are we phoned up in December and told them we did not want to go ahead with what they had worked out as my family was no better off than the current agreement. However today my mum has just been to the bank and found out that dfd have taken over £300 from her account. They have phoned the bank who cannot get it back and dfd say they wont give it back as it is for all the work they have done. They have done nothing as all creditors are still calling the house and sending letters. Are they right in not giving the money back?

    Hi loLo
It will come down to the terms in the agreement wether they can or not.
get some good honest advice from the yellow links at the top of the page,Citizen's Advice bureau etc.Phone them first and then go and see them and take any paper work you have with you, they are very good.
    good luck

as far as I am aware nothing has been signed by my family.
  • was the payment set up as a direct debit or a card payment ?

if it is direct debit and you had previously informed the DMP provider of your intention then you should; be able to re-claim the direct debit and argue the toss with DFD later
 It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them
