I'll try to keep this short and sweet.
Overtime - My OH started a job beg. nov. and has worked 84 hrs overtime, in dec wage he got paid for 6.5 and in jan wage he got paid for 36. He asked wages dept. they said that they have paiud what hhis boss sent through. his boss said thats what we owe you and to just leave it...:eek:. Where does he stand with this ?
Holiday - Recently had 1 week off sick, but they have told him they will deduct it from his holiday entitilment ?
Hours - When he had the interview they said he would req'd to work every other Sat. till 12 which was fine, but now they are putting a rota inplace for everyone to work 6-6 sat and sun....?
I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the above, they seem to threaten the sack if you don't co-operate.
Thanks Folks

Does he have proof he worked the 80+ hours? ie signed time sheets? If he does he needs to lanch a grievance. Do they have a policy for this?Holiday - Recently had 1 week off sick, but they have told him they will deduct it from his holiday entitilment ?
Don't know about this though there is no relation between sick pay and holiday! I suspect that in his first year or whatever in a new job he would not get paid sick leave so getting it paid might be a option for him (and presumably nothing on his sick record?), but its a option for the employee to check out, not to be imposed upon.Hours - When he had the interview they said he would req'd to work every other Sat. till 12 which was fine, but now they are putting a rota inplace for everyone to work 6-6 sat and sun....?
What does it say in his contract? Most good contracts will state something out changing hours from time to time. As a rule it you can generally refuse it takes you above your contracted hours.I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the above, they seem to threaten the sack if you don't co-operate.
In his first year they can sack him and not give a reason. (though not on grounds of discrimination etc).

I agree with Bozo, the best way to dispute overtime is to have a written record of all the hours he does. At my last job we regularly went over our contracted hours so what we did was each carry a diary around that we wrote out weeks hours in and got the manager that day to sign to say we came in at that time and left at that (or a different) time. That way there was no dispute because someone had signed you off so to say.
As for the holiday/sick thing and the Saturday hours, he will need to check his contract to see whether it mentions any of these things. If not then he might be able to fight a decision to sack him for not co-operating.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Overtime - They fill in a timesheet each day which is faxed to manager in another branch :rolleyes:, who in turn sends them off to payroll.....:rolleyes:
Not home yet so will see what further developments there have been today ......

Taking the sick out of holiday is probably OK as I had no sick leave in the first 3 months of my job so I would have lost the money if I had missed a day.0

They are now going to be changing everyone's contracts to state:
Saturday working all day at basic rate, sunday if needed to cover and basic rate...:eek:
