Storing Fresh Herbs

  • Thanks for the tips, I am going to try and freeze some coriander this week. I thought i'd do it in ice cubes. Have always wanted a herb garden but have never got round to it so freezing seems a great idea and should save me a £'s.
  • Just made my first ever bread, an Italian Foccacia (spelling?) and it was lovely and so easy, but did make one mistake though. When kneeding the dough i noticed that the dried yeast was still visible........then read the yeast tin and realised that it should have been disolved first and not just thrown into the flour :o , so started dough two, this time no mistakes.

Anyway, back to my original question, how can i store the left over fresh herbs as it seems pointless just throwing then away.

    Nos
  • I grow herbs from seed, so store the plant on the windowsill, and cut as needed ;)

We have an existing thread on sporing herbs, so I'll add your question to that :D

  • Noooo do not throw them away! Take the leaves off and freeze them in a bag or tub. You can use them straight from the freezer crumbled into your food (soups, stews, casseroles, spag bol....) HTH
