The High Street? Oh, is it still here then?

Sorry, not been down one for about 5 years since everything became available within 3 clicks of a mouse button on the internet, and at half the price.

The High Street can go to hell for me. Either adjust your business model to move with the times and compete, or go bankrupt, simple.

Looks like I'll have to go bankrupt then. Sandwiches, confectionery, etc. don't tend to keep long enough to sell online. Thanks for your thoughts anyway.

  • Hi - our 'Works' is closing down now, and just had an email from a lovely childrensware shop in Brighton which we always visit on the way back from the hospital, will be gone by Saturday.

I must admit that Im not hanging onto any gift/refund vouchers this year.

Is the Disney store in Crawley really closing - my daughter is gutted!

    cheers

Which one? Is it Yummies on Bond St?
There are quite afew Te Let boards up at the mo (incl me..except my board isn't up yet), but not really more than normal...if I am honest.
  • Hi fc123. no its cupcake in Kemp Town, which I really love. DS1 has had alot of appointments at the hospital, and we always bought something lovely from them after the appointments. A spoonful of sugar and all that!!

The owners say that they are doing other things, and were not able to find a buyer, but its a shame.
  • Very happy - the works in our high street isnt closing down. They are just having a really big sale.
Got 3 rolls brown paper, tape and labels for 20p - great for my ebaying!!

Northampton town centre is looking even more ropey than usual, although I couldn't remember which shops had gone, just noticed the empty ones. I miss Woolies, I used to like that shop.

Northampton from what I remember had a huge pound shop and an excellent market. Also a great book shop called 'Occultique'.

The pound shop's still there, as is the market (which is indeed a good one).

It is decidedly short of bookshops, although it does have a waterstones (after a fashion).
