I would check with your advisor before you sign off but you may be eligible for housing/council tax benefit run on which means it will continue to be paid for a few weeks after you start work. I think you have may have to have been continuously unemployed for a while in order to get this though.
Of course, not knowing how much you will be earning or what you had in the last tax year I don't know if you can get this either but if you are on a low income and going to be working over 30 hours you may be eligible for Working Tax Credit too and that could give you over 40 pounds a week extra in the bank.0 -
Provided you have been in receipt of income support/ JSA ib for 26 weeks
continuously prior to starting work you will be entitled to a 4 week run on of your HB and CTB. However, you will need to contact the council to request this and confirm that your job is expected to last for more that 5 weeks. The DWP used to verify this for the LA's so they could automatically award this wen they got the 'ok' from the DWP but they no longer do this. You also need to contact them within 4 weeks of starting work to qualify.
It may also be worth sending in your wage slips as your only PT you may still qualify even if it is at a reduced rate.:j0 -
Along with proof of any other income e.g WTC , CTC, CB etc.
There is also a £40 weekly payment to help single parents get back into work. I know very little about this , so I would suggest that you contact the job centre to enquire to see if you are eligible.:j0 -
