Romford Alliance & Leicester

Apologies if this is the wrong forum, but I just wondered if somebody could help. I need to pay in some cheques made to a company and the company bank is Alliance & Leicester and the nearest branch is Romford.

Only problem is I work in Grays and there's no branch there. I urgently need to deposit the cheques as it is for a building insurance policy that expires on 27th January. Does anyone know if I can pay the cheques into ANY bank in Grays to eventually clear in A&L?

If you are paying in to a business account, you need to make the payment through the post office?

If you are paying into a personal alliance & Leicester account, you will have to go to the branch or to the post office (PO takes longer and you need a slip).

Otherwise, send them first class recorded to the branch and they will pay them in on the day (perhaps ring ahead).

I think you will need a slip to pay into a business acount, though just the account number for the personal account.

Hope this helps... I worked for them until summer 2007 so I hope this hasn't changed!

also... no you can't pay into a different bank (eg natwest) to have it clear through and into A&L
