Anyone ever heard of them?
They are apparently working for EDF energy.
I have done a websearch and they are a debt company it seems?
Only, I paid my Gas bill 2 weeks ago, and my electricity is a payg meter
The letter they stuck through the door said urgent, and the wording was "We want to help you sort out this matter"
It was on rubbish paper, poorly typed, and the headed paper was very amateur.
I will phone my Gas company to find out, but wondered if anybody had heard of them?
Thanks :j

Did their letter give details of the debt or is it a general 'contact us' letter?

General contact us letter, as they would like to help me solve the matter.
I phoned SWEB, and they said it was for a gas meter reading and safety check. I phoned Richburns, they just gave me another number, phoned them and said the original people would need to be contacted, they said they would phone them and they would then phone me......so far nothing.0 -
Sounds like a shambles. Ignore it until someone sends you a letter with more details on. These contact us cards/letters are more often than not total rubbish or not even for the actual person they are sent to.
One point. Are all these calls you are making to free numbers or to premium rate? Make no more phonecalls. If they write to you again post back on here for more advice.

Well, I've done my bit, contacted them, so will wait to hear from them.
The numbers were 07960 - a mobile, lasted about 30 seconds
2nd one was 0208 (London) lasted about 2 minutes0 -
I've had a message left on my phone now.
They say they need to make an appointment to remove my meter, my gas company say it's just a reading.
What will happen if they come in and remove the meter, even though they aren't meant too?0 -
I doubt they are going to remove your meter, they have to have specially trained personnel to touch any equipment that has gas running through it - its actually illegal to touch equipment with out the licence.
If its just a reading can you not take it and pass it directly to the gas company? Sounds a bit dodgy!
When I done a search there seems to be a few Richburns, one or two of them seem to be meter readers and gas safety workers. It could be completely innocent, or they are trying to disguise who they actually are!Debts (As of 10th September):

Well, after what seems like a million phonecalls, it's established it's merely a meter reading0
