That shouldn't be a problem.
(But be aware that the cashier would have to refund it back to your original card, which takes 3-5 working days, and then recharge your card the amount minus the gift card amount, which would leave your account immediately.)Argos Staff Member.
I'll gladly help with any queries - but if you have any problems and need to get some real guidance, go back to your local store or contact customer services (argos.co.uk).

There are restrictions on some items:We're sorry but some items like earrings, foot spas and dental products can't be exchanged or refunded for hygiene and safety reasons, unless they're faulty.
To protect your personal security, we are also unable to accept returns on some non-faulty imaging and recording products such as MP3 players and digital cameras.
but aside from that, you should be fine.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
Its a nintendo wii fit and I have enough on a giftcard to cover the full cost. Thanks very much for all your replies!

There is a restriction on this item - it is excluded from the moneyback guarantee, regardless of the fact you want to buy it straight back. You may be lucky to get a pleasant customer advisor, but they are not obliged to refund you.
Also, there is a risk of you losing the item during the refund process. They would have to move the stock back onto the system to be able to resell it and someone may reserve it before you get chance to buy it back.
One last thing... you won't be refunded the delivery charge.0 -
Ohh that would be a problem in that if you opened it it is excluded from the 30-day-moneyback. However, if all you wanted to do was basically just use your gift card, just ask the duty manager, explain the situation and I'm sure they can help.
As colliefrog said, you wouldn't be refunded delivery.Argos Staff Member.

I'm on quite good terms with one of the members of staff instore and I have to go and buy my wii from there later today so will ask if its possible. I havent received the order as yet and its not a big deal if they say no but would save me having to buy something else. Again, Thanks for all your help. I will update with a result or not!

On-line orders are covered by Distance Selling Regulations regardless of Argos' no returns policy.
See here - http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/cgi-bin/calitem.cgi?file=ADV0051-1111.txt
You can cancel the contract and return the item, even after opening for inspection (but not after use obviously). This is one of the major advantages in ordering on-line with Argos as it seems to me more and more of their items are getting the "excluded from our 30day money-back guarantee" label when purchased in-store.0 -
Opps, forgot about the DSR (don't really deal with that much in store!).0
