The NHS are likely to want a CRB check rather than a police check.
CRB checks are non-transferable - so the NHS would not look at any other organisation's check but would initiate their own.0 -
Depends!
The last time I was involved, about 7 months ago, ALL NHS staff had to have the 'enhanced' CRB check due to the likelihood of coming into contact with vulnerable children and adults.
Also, most NHS trusts seem to NOT be willing to accept a 'transfer' from a previously gained check - they insist on getting their own.
Not all employers do this if you have a valid CRB check that was from within the last 1-2 years.
You can read the government guidelines but quite frankly I do not think they are clear about whether 'portability' is allowed'good practice or not!
No difference to you of course, just means they look a little closer into your history:rotfl:0 -
the problem with portability is that a person could have committed an offence since they were checked so to accept one that isnt totally up to date when working with vulnerable people is way too risky-an enhanced crb will check against police records and if the right boxes are ticked, as they usually are, against people on the POVA and POCA lists (those barred from working with vulnerable adults and children)
its all good stuff and to prevent the huntleys ect of this world slipping through that net
good luck with the jobeven god cant change the past-no matter how many times i cryfor levi, leo, smudge and arfa:A my angels0 -
The CRB check process is the same as both role will probably require advanced clearance. CRB checks tend not to be transferable as its not good practice to do so.
Firstly they are only really reflective of the time they were dont so you could in theory have offend in the time inbetween. Secondly if you do commit a relevant offense the police will notify the CRB who in turn will notify the relevant agencies you have been checked with. If our new employer does not do their own check they wont be notifed automatically potentially leaving them liable.
Whilst CRB checks can be a pain in the royal to complete they're there for a good reason.2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback

unless youve got something to hide, I wouldnt worry. I dont know why youve got to pay for this, the last 3 NHS trusts Ive worked in have run their own CRB at their own cost0

I havent got to pay for this i was just wondering if its the same check as when working in a school. The NHS i going to be working for are doing this all for me.I have just found my CRB which was done in 2004 and it says by the questions none recorded so this means its clean ?Won 2010: Butlins 5 day Break and £250, 1 yr Virgin Active membership, Meal for 10 at Best Parties Ever, skyline 2011 dvd.

Hey,
I have just started a nursing post with the NHS and I have had a CRB done a few weeks ago. I had one done by an employer who I was going to start with that I forgot about (it was sent over 8 weeks ago) and got it back literally a week ago and everything is clear as I knew it would be as I have always been a good girl. I don't dare break the law-I'm frightened of the Police!!!!
As long as you know you have never committed an offence, you will be absolutely fine. You will receive a copy of the disclosure that you can keep for you own records and a copy will be sent to the HR of your trust. What is making you worry-if you don't want to post it then just PM me.Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
As D'Ream would sing 'Things.....can only get better'!!!0 -
not necessarily, sometimes things are recorded on the copies sent to the person who has requested the crb but don't necessarily show on the one sent to you, eg recorded accusations from former employer, investigations etc. This is the main reason why they are not portably.0

Yes - it means that they have no trace of an offence but, of course, they can't say you have never done anything wrong!0
