Freezing Dumplings?????

  • I have never thought of this before but I am now going to ask a silly question. Do you freeze them cooked or uncooked? I enjoy caraway dumplings with a freezer staple, goulash, but it's a bit of a drag sometimes to fiddle about with the dumplings. Please advise me the best way to do this.

You say dumplings are a bit of a drag - and you also seem to eat these regularly. Have you thought of pre-mixing the dumpling mix, so all you have to do is shake it up and spoon it out on demand?

It's not so easy now that suet comes in 200g boxes (it used to be 250g), but if you mix a whole packet of suet with 400g of flour and store it in a plastic tub, all you need do is give it a shake, spoon out what you need and add water.

They can be frozen, uncooked. best to put them on a tray with spaces and open freeze them and then transfer to a bag. This works well with the little gonococci (have i spelled that right) dumplings as well.
  • Thanks ladies. It's only cos it is just for me and the cleaning up always seems disproportionate to the quantity I use. It seems a good idea to freeze them uncooked and take them out of the freezer at the same time as the HM goulash. When I was cooking for three or four I never thought of it as a chore, but I'm working longer hours now so less time. I find myself grating small quantities of cheese to freeze as the big blocks go off long before I can use them up.

    Hi Closed,

Thank you SO much, I've spent this morning slowly going through your notes and can already see an improvement in the speed of my machine :)

I have got a bit stuck on point 12 though. One Services, I'm not sure how to disable - I cant find the disable option! Its obviously there, but I just cant find it. Also, a box came up asking if I wanted to disk clean up and perm. delete 32.46kb - should I do this?

Also, having installed Avast, I seem to be getting quite a few pop ups, can these just be ignored or should I turn them off somehow?

One last thing (for now!) when I restarted, I had a box appear that said System Configuration Utility and something about I had used the SCU to make changes, can I tick it not to appear anymore?

On my Hijack this log - I cant cope without Roboform! If I delete some of the old passwords it remembers would that help? Getting too old to remember so many passwords!

I disabled everything in msconfig but kept avast checked but couldnt find igfxtray or hkcmd.exe - maybe I had already deleted them whilst working through your notes? Are they essential, do I need to find them?

    Thanks again SO much:T:A:T
