petrol is for 2 cars per month total value of 2 cars just 700 quid
we have 3 toddlers so have an old galaxy to give us the space (2.0ltr) £600
work car is an old citroen ax 1ltr £100
all our family live 70 miles away
so we go there 2 times per month
i travel to work 6 days per week and it is 12 miles round trip
small car not big enough for us to fit into (3 baby seats) but cheap to run to work
big car thirsty (ish) with plenty space.
i can use the big car for work but more likely than not wife will run me in daily then do the school run for 2 boys etc with baby school is 3 trips per day doctors are 5 miles away for health checks
my work is 7 45 am till 5 daily but i have to do home visits (measuring up) from time to time. buck stops with me
insurance as stated 55 per month both of us (i have 9 points lol)
mot etc 40 per month
tax is 34 per month (should be 24 1 big 1 small)

we left out holidays from soa and house insurance is basic and cheap
gas and electric are not confirmed yet as they are only the original set up direct debit amounts and we have hammered the heating as bloody freezing at moment so could (should) be more maybe
i just want to make sure figures are straight
need to look at the other figures to check they are max allowance if possible

sorry for the length of this post just need to make sure i am bob on for the phone interview tomorrow

one other little point is that my wife has no wage just benefits (child benefit and working tax credit)
we are currently not getting the housing benefit but have been told we should get it and it will be back dated (really hope so)

sorry for the huge post lol

    Hiya Dave,
Is the child benefit included in the benefit figures above?

If it is you're well within your surplus, it will be £99 + £185 CB before they can take an IPA.

If it isn't you need to add it in and up some things.

  • He's bathing kids lol!

But yes, CB is included in the figure. The 710 benefits is made up of child tax credit and child benefit, which is paid to me and is my sole income atm.

    Thanks Peachy xx

  • haha! :rotfl:

The bathroom and him normally end up with more water than is in the bath - im sure most of it is his doing tho! ;)
The baby (nearly 1 now - OMG!!!) keeps trying to eat the wet sponge and choking, or he gets the hair wash jug and pretends its a hat! bless him!

:D oh yes I know what that is like - my youngest is 16 months, he likes to suck the sponge! Eeugh! and this is while the oldest tips water over his head! but he doesn't care - I have one who hates the water, he is ok in the bath but not keen on swimming and the youngest loves it and doesn't bat an eyelid at getting water over his head.:D

  • what i was after was 'moving' something from the petrol pile into something non negotiable so as to put car into better light!

ie make anything else i have missed replace some of the car bills as they are needed but not identifiable (you find the money for petrol from cash or whatever rather than it being a direct debit)

i am trying to to keep the vehicle expenses low whilst not giving anything else sacrificial status

what else on these figures seem low?
if i take 50 per month for holidays and 10 per adult and 5 per child haicuts am i on the right track

are gas and eleccy bills about right/

thankyou for all your help and support
    dave
    i am bloody soaked now!

Hi wallopadonkey - the holiday and hair cut adjustments sound just fine - on the flip side, you don't want to make the car expenses too low so that it seems you hardly use it and therefore don't really need it but I think the changes you have mentioned will balance it out nicely. gas and leccy look fine too.

To be honest I wouldn't worry too much, as I said before they would have to chop off £284 to get an IPA, which I doubt they would as nothing is excessive. If you were only £20-£30 away from an IPA it would be different, but you're so far off, they're not going to worry too much exactly how much you have allocated for what.
