hi, can anyone help me. i was declared br on 16th nov 07, got early discharge in july 08. last year i met a lovely chap and we want to start a new life together and move in. we are looking to move in together soon, his credit score is perfect and he is aware of my br, however just wondered if anyone has any advice for me about approaching estate agents? we are thinking of saving six months deposit anyway, so we can provide some sort of security, however has anyone had any experience of this type of thing. any advice greately accepted.

hi hanspans,
the good thing to do is what you are doing - save up a good deposit and some rent in advance - I can't see any landlord right now wanting to turn away a paying tenant with a good deposit saved.
when someone who is BR has gone to rent, they have either been totally up front and honest about the state of their credit rating in which case the estate agent/letting agent has not bothered with credit check and just asked for a larger deposit or more rent in advance (not all will do this though, some may just say no - it depends much on the landlord as to whether they are happy to have a BR or former BR renting their property)
The other option is that your OH just gets the tenancy agreement in his name only if the estate agent or letting agent is agreeable to that, this doesn't mean you cannot live there if he does this.
hope that does help a little, someone else may be able to give an actual experience for you a little later on.
