The Met are recruiting at the moment.

That must mean a few more speed traps are about to be set up.

A couple of senior policemen have told me they are very worried... the Met have a load of contingency planning going on at the moment; dunno if they'll be doing more recruiting but they are paranoid as !!!! this is going to kick off in a big way, BNP outperforming Lib Dems, etc etc.

Which should be a good laugh :D

I can see riots this maybe next year.

Loads of coppers will be needed once the mega-database of all e-mails and phone calls if created. So many people with illegal thoughts needing to be dragged off for justice.
  • I'd love to be a copper especially I'd like to be in uniform and surprise arrogant people like bad drivers that give others grief on the road or intimate people who have their noses too high in the air but I would feel intimated myself wearing uniform and being seen by hoodies outside nightclubs, pubs and rough council estates. It must be safe being a police officer rather than a nightclub bouncer or security guard as at least PCs wear bullet proof vests and carry a baton. I think doorman and shop security staff don't get paid enough for the abuse they face (although the former and PCSO officers act like the police sometimes - well some of them anyway) .

I hope they do recruit, our local police station shuts at 5pm(honest) .We did have a good "plastic bobby" who knew the area and the local scumbags etc, but typically of any government body he,s been moved to a new area, so now we have a new one who im sure will take a good few months to find his/her feet..................Why do they do that????

I'd think you would find it extremely fustrating being a police officer...their hands are tied on many things and the mountain of paper work they have to go through for a simple arrest is just nonesense (thanks to Labour).

I was going to leave the Army a few years ago to join the police but after talking to many friends who are in the police decided against it......I guess I've just got use to being in a not so PC enviroment where getting the job done is far more important than worrying about whether you have offended someone.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

Not quite. They are not even particularly stab proof. And they leave your whole abdomen and neck exposed.
But then again an actual ballistics vest would be too heavy to wear on normal duties.

No doubt desperate economic situation, escalating crime and tight budgets will lead to the 'necessity' to introduce widespread use of Tasers dramatically cutting numbers of police officers necessary to make an arrest.

A lot of once honest citizens will be "tempted" now if it means they stand a chance of keeping the roof over theirs and families heads. Dole doesn't pay the shopping bill in most houses, it's only a matter of time and the figures will rise in robberies fraud and white collar crime. And the get rich quick schemes will be back.
