Cheers, wow surprised my 21 inch NEC LCD screen is 6 years old and not one pixel misbehaving! Guess they made things well back then! ;)

How do you then rectify any problems?
Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself. :)

The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.

Lol....I'm going to go with the ....'what I don't know wont hurt me' theory. :rotfl:

My screen seems ok and I don't want to know otherwise, it would just bug me. :D

You can't....once its dead its dead.

You would know if you have a dead pixel without the use of any downloads IMO. I bought a monitor with dead pixel and since then another one has died. You can see one when screen is black and the other when screen is white.

You can't. Dead pixels are a manufacturing fault. They can't be put right once they are there.

Different manufacturers have different policies about how many they will accept as a cause for replacement. For sure, most of them wont give you a replacement if you have 1 or 2 dead pixels.

Here is an idea of what different manufacturers regard as the number of dead pixels that warrant a replacement.

    Dell 7
    IBM 9 to 16
    HP/Compaq 9
    LG / LG.Philips 10
    Acer 9 - 10
    Apple unstated
    Fujitsu 3
    Panasonic 3
    Sony 5
    Toshiba 5
    Alienware 2

You can 'coax' some stuck pixels back to life - I did two after finding them on this test - but dead are dead.
Try rubbing the area gently but firmly with a soft dry cloth - worked for me.
  • good programs. no probs with my ibm thinkpad! 2-3 yrs o;d too!

Thanks for this. I've had a stuck pixel on this monitor since day 1 (usually shows white or blue on a dark background)
I know it says the jury is out as to whether the pixel excerciser works but it seems to have done the trick :j
