First Post - decided on BR

Hi
This is my first post so please excuse any errors. I have tried for an IVA - but not enough disposable income left, DMP suggested but if accepted would take 15 years to pay back, I'm 61 now!
Have decided that bankruptcy is only way and my wife and me have a multitude of questions. Could someone suggest our next move, i.e C.A.B. or one of the professionals that help with Br for a fee.
Eric

The school of thought on here is to steer clear of anyone that charges, some of the regulars have numbers for National Debtline and CCCS in their signatures and at the top of the bankruptcy board there is a thread with all the info on it, including the numbers. CAB is a good place to start.

Hi Eric,
well done on making the decision. I found the CAB very helpful, i went and sat face to face with someone and they didnt charge a penny. you should be able to find good advice on going bankrupt without having to pay for it. This forum is also very helpful for all your questions so dont be afraid to ask anything.0 -

Thank you for all the advice. I'll certainly give the "professionals" a miss.
Will go to CAB Monday, then you can all expect plenty of questions.
Its very reassuring to know that there are people who have gone through the BR process who are willing to help.
Thanks again

When going to CAB you need to ask for a specialist debt advisor as they have specific training to help you.
