Dont ever shop at Office!

Since when are high fashion and quality mutually exclusive anyway? Haute Couture and designer items are supposed to be of superior quality and last for years to come. Fashion and quality are not mutually exclusive, nor does not guarantee another.
Fashion is irrelevant in this case. Office (and perhaps other companies) use the ''fashion shoes/item'' as a feeble excuse to avoid refunding customers when items are faulty/unreasonably poor quality.
I am somewhat relieved to learn that it is not only me who feels so disatisfied with 1) the quality of Office shoes and 2) the customer disservice.
Hopefully enough people will stop buying from them so that...1) they change their ways 2) they lose business to more deserving shoe companies.
I was going to write to complain, but I suspect it is not worth bothering, if previous experience with this company is anything to go by.0 -

Please tell me you are joking. If you think that a pair of boots from office is never sold as a winter item - are you joking? If they are not supposed to be watertight, then there
a) a should be a label on the box to state this
b) signage in the shop- these are not watertight
c) clear markings on website to state they are not watertight.
I have never seen such signage in office.
No shoes or boots are ever sold as being watertight *unless* it is explicitly claimed that they are and the companies that make watertight shoes/boots charge a huge premium for this advantage.

Someone who owns Haute Couture boots probably wouldn't ever consider wearing them in the rain unless they were designed to be worn in the rain. Just because something is expensive/exclusive doesn't mean it's durable.Since when are high fashion and quality mutually exclusive anyway? I have a pair of red suede fashion boots - I have no illusion about what would happen to them if I wore them in the rain. They may be boots, which may be considered winter wear - but I have some intelligence and therefore prefer that my red suede doesn't come into contact with water.

Julie, you are assuming the boots are made from suede and are expensive as they are high fashion/trendy. This may not always be true- I used to work in a well known store, we sold leather boots which were the sort of thick leather which has a sheen to it- the type belts are made from- basicly they look like strong shoes.
Now I am under no impression either that you don't go splashing around in puddles nor playing football or dancing in. The are there to look good.
But you would expect them to outlast a light downpour- I live in London, there is always a bus close and most people seem to drive (most of the people that could afford to shop where I worked seemed to anyway).
Nope.
Now I would expect, in a shoe that was not supposed to get wet (eg my Ugg boots) for the colour to fade, the suede to go a bit hard (actually didn't in the Ugg case but anyway) and maybe there to be dirt on the boots too.
What I would not expect is for the shoes to become unglued!
I know how basic shoes are made (part of my degree) they do need to be glued. Butr they are also supposed to be stiched as well as glued. Not just soley made to rely on the glue for holding it together! The fact shoes are being cheaply made often results in things like this happening. Its done basicly to save the manufacturer money- and lower the cost to the seller. So no, there is no reason shoes should become unglued, even an idiot knows you don't use disolvable glue to set shoes together! and then there are those who have shoes where the stitching has split as the thread used was not good quality- it is too thin, too weak, and again, all selected to lower the costs....
You see what I mean? just because a shoe is expensive, does not make it ok to cut corners! OK so granted suede should not be taken out in the rain, but if it is, the shoes should not literaly fall apart!0 -

I was once sent a size 6 and a size 8 shoe in the same box. They seemed a bit suspicious when I tried to take those back!
Schuh on the other hand seem to have excellent customer service.0 -

I don't think it would be unreasonable for a customer to think that a pair of boots wouldn't leak. I work in advertising regulation and goods must always be fit for the purpose they are intended.
Where can one purchase these 'winter boots' of which you speak - because all the high-street retailers I see sell 'fashion boots'.0
