no such thing .. it's more of an urban legend than anything else.

the ones you get in the free papers are all scams so steer well clear.
  • Please dont fall for this scam. Do you really think people will pay when machines can do it 100x faster

Why would anyone with a business post out envelopes and items to stuff in them?

There are numerous scams whereby they ask for money upfront for "the secret" to making money stuffing envelopes. When you pay, you get instructions on how to get people to pay you by advertising for people wanting to get paid for stuffing envelopes.

  • Yes any advert that has claims like this or work from home and they ask money upfront is a sure sign its a scam

There are all over place, lamp posts, cars etc and I suspect it will get worse because people get taken in when money is short
  • Why would anyone *want* to stuff envelopes?

Much easier to work at your local fast food location.

It is a scam - my Mam signed up for this kind of thing about 10 years ago. The `envelope stuffing` was her having to put an Ad in shop windows for a betting tips site with her details, she then had to `stuff envelopes` with the names and address of people who wanted to sign up. Load of rubbish! The only decent work from home jobs ive heard of or know people doing was kind of outreach from factories, packing greeting cards and assembling make up brushes. Good Luck!

I believe that the OP may have been referring to the folded flyers that are delivered to us inside newspapers - or even directly without the newspapers - rather than advertisements for envelope stuffers.

With a wide distribution (like those distributed with newspapers), the flyers will be folded by machine not by human hand. Machines are also used to fold and insert the contents into envelopes. Any company doing regular large mailings (of loose flyers or correspondence) will have a machine to do it.

I would guess the only chance of an envelope stuffing job would be on a very ad hoc basis for a company that very rarely sent out such things. Even so, it would be almost certain they would want the manual folding/stuffing done on their premises rather than go to the trouble of delivering envelopes/flyers to the worker and collecting afterwards.

How many small business/employees of small businesses do you know? You might hear of an opportunity that way.

The only way you could get this work would be if your rate for the job was less than the cost of their getting another company (eg the printer of the flyer) doing the work by machine. It is not likely to be worth your while.
  • I see! Oh I know about this too - A friend at Uni had a summer job in a factory in Bradford putting the free leaflets in mags. She described t as hell on earth. Dont think its outsourced to home workers.
  • Thats not very easy to do from home though...

The financial rewards are worth it, however.
