Firstly to say what a fantastic site, one of the best sites on the web!
After reading through this board and learning alot (been to CAB and they could not help me at all) but need some advice on translating my credit file
I recently found i have had trouble getting any credit after getting my credit file found that a previous girlfriend ran up a few debt in my name whan i left her (after which i have been out of the country and came back 2 years ago and not required to apply for any credit until now when i want a mortgage).
These debts run from late 1999 to 2000 and a CCJ dated Jan 2001, these
debts range from a higher purchase good? and a credit card
After solicitors advice resulted into not much... due to not a clue where in the world my ex could be and have no interest in reporting to the police these debts on my file start and finish dates are in 2000 therefore reading reports on this site say after 6 years they are no longer enforcable/ written off these debt could disappear in a couple more months
My CCJ is for £1167 and dated 11/01/01, if i now contact this how much could i poss owe with interest? Is it worth me sorting this out or any ideas
The ccj info on my file does not have my surname correct either??
Another of the defaults has an incorrect date of birth??
What shall i do??
I want a mortgage but can't get one from normal means?
I have steered away from credit cards/store cards for the past 8 years but now well and truly screwed over from an old ex from her revenge surely no-one deserves this
Thanks

If you want to deal with the CCJ you need to apply for an N245 to vary it so you pay it installments you can afford, basically do a budget and make an offer of payment this will cost £35. Interest is normally stopped once a CCJ has been applied for, and you will also be liable for it and 6 year rule won;t apply. This means because it is in default the creditor can go for bailiffs, attachment of earnings or charge against a property if applicable once they catch up with you.
Although you might be able to dispute it if they have incorrect details for you but you would need legal advice.0
