First time buyer mortgage after maternity leave

I will be going on 3 months maternity leave in May and after returning to work would like to buy a house (renting currently) with my OH.

Someone told me that my maternity leave will count as if "I was out of employment" during my maternity leave and therefore will have to wait for at least 3 months before I should apply for a mortgage.

Is this true?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Many thanks

Not neccesarily - some lenders will take your full current salary into account as long as you can confirm that you will be going back to work after the 3 month maternity period.
