How can i keep the teapot warm for my second cup, on these cold mornings?
I tried leaving on the rad, but the resulting taste was yuk.
Do teacosies work...anyone got a knitting pattern?
thanks

How big is your teapot? Could you keep it warm with oven gloves?
I think the tea still gets 'stewed'

Best way to stop it stewing is to take the t-bag out when it reaches the desired strength, should then stay fine for 2 or 3 or more cups. I've got a t-cosy my MIL gave me which is padded material rather than knitted - yep, it keeps the tea warm. It also makes the pot heat up so the handle gets VERY hot, be careful!!
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle

Why not just buy a tea cosy? We got one in Dunelm's sale for £1 as our old one was a bit the worse for wear. Keeps our early morning second cups lovely for up to ¾ hour.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Oh well this is OS, so I think I'll go for it :D If not here, then where? ;)

My tea cosy is home made, patchwork, padded with felt I made from my own sheep's wool, washed and carded of course. It is super fab for keeping the teapot hot. So I'd recommend if you make one, to use wool as the padding, I am sure a felted jumper would do the job very well.

In my experience the tea doesn't get quite so "stewed" as quickly if it keeps warm. I also stand the pot on one of those "hot rock" things that you heat up in your microwave if I think I will need it to stay warm for quite a while.
  • If you don't have a tea cosy you can pour the tea into a vacuum flask.

You can improvise a tea cosy with an old woollen scarf or a Russian hat.
Small change can often be found under seat cushions.

  • my tea cosy cost me 20p from a charity shop, its knitted in bizzarre purple orange and green stripes, but everyone comments on it. i find it does keep the tea warm. i also have what looks a bit like 2 small tea trainers stuck together on a chain (cost me about £1.50 i think from Whittards in the sale, so i put teabag in there and pull it out when its strong enough.
