Current Rent Arrrears pre BR

I have a query re rent arrears. I am living in a hostel waiting to be rehoused. The only way we can get our br fees together is to use my oh next pay, and not pay any rent etc. What I wondered is whether the rent arrears will go into my br or will we be able to clear them off & inc them in the soa? I ask as I am not sure if the HA will be keen to re-house us if the arrears are inc.?

I wouldn't do this. Getting rehoused is far more important (in the long term) and I wouldn't do anything to risk that. You won't be rehoused if there is a debt.

Its taken my council almost all my BR year to sort out an alleged overpayment. The debt (I disputed) was put into my BR but the are still sending me demands for payment. Here was me thinking it was all over, but actually I got a demand today! I went BR in Feb08 and this is not rectified yet. I know this is a benefit overpayment and not actual rent arrears, but if it takes this long to sort out your problem, then you won't see a permanant home for some time.
