i started a thread yesterday
got some good advice
just want to know about some old debts
i have a mortgage (high rate), got two ccjs personally, one finishes in 2007 i think, maybe 2006
all other personal debts apart from one (4.2k) have had no contact from (def not too), i have moved a few times, dont want them to find me, made me depressed, still trying to recover
i think i owe about 35-40k 90 per cent is from 2001 or previous. (apart from mortgage got last year)
i have read on this site if they dont contact me in 6 years, i dont contact them it is written off
is this true
do people think they may have written it off already
there were only 2 ccjs on my credit file, i dont know about defaults etc from ages ago
i want to move on with my life
dont want to look over my shoulder all the time
i have stopped bein reckless years ago
would have paid (plan of some sort), but income been very low for a few years
now i just want ot be ble to sleep
help please?????
what do you think has happened, will happen? should i do
when could i apply for credit again
thank you anyone

You should find this link handy.............

Debts are statute barred after 6 years and are not enforcable *but* there are conditions. You cannot check your credit records without going back on the system and giving them your current address and all your previous addresses so you have no idea how many CCJ's are floating around. I assume your current CCJ's are for your current address? Therefore your debts could be around for much longer than 6 years. Also, did you lie to get your current mortgage? If you told them you had massive debts you were hiding from they would not have given it to you.
Why don't you stop worrying and face your debts. Contact all creditors and find out what your current situation really is. Work out what you can afford to pay and start a Debt Management Plan. If you continue to hide you will not be truly safe from these debts for another 10 years and you will not be able to come out of hiding until your mortgage is paid off.
Lots to think about.

no as far as a credit check when got mortgage goes, only had 2 ccjs, 1 address in 2003, which went on file 2004
and one in 2000 i think, maybe 2001 it went on file.
I think most have written it off, but i dont want to give my current address yet, for anyone to find me.
thanks for your help so far.0
