Westcot Credit link harming my credit score ?

Around 2001 I got in a bit of bother with my credit card debts and went on repayment plans for all but one of them. Most of those cards have now either been paid off or significantly reduced and I went back to contractual payments about 2-3 years ago. The only card that didn't go on a plan, was a debt taken over by Westcot Credit. They froze the debt (ie 0% interest) and I have been paying them back for a number of years by direct debit.
Is this association with them harming my credit rating ?
I've been trying to move my remaining debts to cheaper forms of borrowing but I keep on getting turned down. I cannot see anything else on my credit report that would be causing this. Should I pay off Westcot in full rather than keep paying monthly ?

Hi
Can't answer fully on whether Wescot association is harming your credit, although I suspect not if you are maintaining agreed payments.
I also feel that at 0% you will find that hard to beat as an interest rate (if you find one who offers to pay you, let me know :-)
So keep up the good work repaying this one, and keep checking your INCOME LESS OUTGOING total to make sure everything continues in the right direction. CHeers. Bob.0 -
Hi
I've dealt with Westcot in the past and I don't want to slag them off - there must be some decent people that work there, however the individuals that I dealt with refused to freeze interest and when they finally did freeze the interest, they still wanted too high a monthly repayment despite me providing them with a SOA proving that I could only make the monthly amount proposed! Going by my experience I would apply for a credit score from Experian etc. If you are registered by Westcot on a credit score then sorry, but I don't know what to advise - someone will be along soon with good advice!
Good Luck!

Wescott are a Debt recovery company and I would guess that this would effect your credit rating.
Get an up to date copy of your credit history for £2 from Experian to see what is on there.0
