'Browser Help Object' - any threat?

Weird things happening with PC.
Had my google toolbar suddenly disappear, accompanied by a heads up from Spybot S&D saying: Browser Help Object - key added - entry:{C84D72FE-E17D-4195-BB24-76C02E2E7C4E}.
I tried to deny the change but the box kept reappearing. Ran Spybot and Avira scans which both showed no infection/detections.
Meanwhile, at some stage during the scans, the taskbar has shown up again!
The Spybot warning box keeps coming up a few seconds after denial-of change, so it's very insistent.
I hesitate to tick the 'remember this decision' box in case I set up some kind of destructive loop.
Any suggestions/ideas, guys?

I have 'googled' it and it's possible that McAfee is implicated in some way:

McAfee came with the new pc as a free, time-limited accessory which I allowed to expire many months ago.
Could there be some hangover?0
