Wrong TAX Code??
Comments
-
When you arrived back in the country, did you complete a P86 form,
This reintroduces you back into the uk tax system.
You are presumably on the BR code because of one of two things, you didn't give any paperwork to your employer, so they are guessing you have another job.
You completed a P46 when starting with your new employer and ticked the box that said you have another job.
If it is your only job, phone HMRC (be prepared to wait on the phone as currently its their busiest time of the year.) and they will issue a code that will put you on the right tax code for the remainder of the tax year. Once they receive the P86 they will see that you haven't worked this tax year and will issue a cumulative code, so the tax you have overpaid will be refunded through your wages provided the code is used before 5/4/2010He's not an accountant - he's a charlatan0 -
Thanks for the replies.
They've confirmed what I suspected.
I can't remember what exactly I filled out, it was almost 18 months ago.
Have e-mailed HR, who will hopefully point me in the right direction.0
