Declined Credit card-good credit!

Options
I have recently applied for a credit card and have been declined. The company stated that there was no derrogatory information on my credit file but have considered everything! I appled for my credit files with experian and equifax, and I have never had any late payments or bad credit ever before, my report is totally clean. Does anybody know why they would have declined me?

you might just not be the type of customer they are trying to target with that particular card. They are in the process of making money and owning a credit card is not a fundamental human right (if you see what i mean) so they are entitled to refuse you for no reason other than they feel like it. You probably won't make enough money for them or don't suit the other types of financial products they want to market to their existing customers. Don;t take it to heart, just try somewhere else - what do you want the card for? BT or spending/cashback?

Perhaps you don't earn enough money and like Tondella stated "Aren't what their looking for".
  • Have you recently opened a new bank account?

I know I was turned down because I had only had my current bank account for a couple of months?

  • It may also be something to do with the amount of credit available to you from other sources i.e. if you've got a few different cards with high credit limits they could potentially see you as a risk.
