There's also an aweful lot of pretty disgruntled savers and private pension plan holders out there who'll think twice before voting for Mr Brown at next election (including me).
Maybe he'll carry the public sector with their (grossly unfair) guaranteed, index linked, gold plated pensions but I don't think it will be enought to get him back to No100
