Faulty Nintendo DS lite - under warranty???

My sons Nintendo DS has just stopped working when switched on the light flashes and then goes off. I have tried checking the battery by using my other sons DS battery but that is not it. I bought it Aug 2008 from Woolworths and have receipt - so I thought great it is under warranty. I went onto Nintendo UK service site and went on quick registration for faulty items, which asked for nuber off the back - well its not there because he has picked it off - so I have tried ringing them and no answer - I am left in a queue. Does anyone have experience of what will happen without this number

Have phoned them before, got through ok, not sure how you will get on with no number, but you have proof of purchase, that will be needed either way.

That's it i.d so they would maybe be able to trace it to a faulty batch also without it they will not be able find out when it was made making your receipt probably useless. Never heard of this happening so might be costly if you have tried another battery. Never heard of anyone fixing them. Long shot but do you still have the box in the attic or somewhere as code might be on there?

My daughter has had her's for a few years - had been dropped, snapped in half, glued back together and still works.

    Good Luck

Is the serial number not also on the box/within the packaging? Or did you register it when it was bought? (pretty sure I recall doing this with mine)

From what I hear Nintendo CS is very good.
Who or what was I before you came in to my life

When we had to return my son's DS to Nintendo they asked for a copy of the original recieit. I don't remember them asking for the serieal number. There was always a que when I tried to ring them but it is worth hanging on as I found them to be very helpful and they repaired his DS with no messing around.Good luck in sorting it out.Jog
  • Hi,
I had a problem with my sons wii, which was out of warranty. I rang nintendo and received a great service they've sent me a pre-paid label and they are repairing it free of charge:T Found a different number on the saynoto0870.

    Hope this helps

    BSC NUMBER 116
  • Thanks everyone for your replies, I will try that number on Monday morning. i have a feeling that they will not repair under warranty without the serial number though.
  • I got through today and the fact there is no serial number was not a problem.
