Just looking for advice,
Im currently a Freelance hairdresser working for myself.
But I really would like to become a Nutrional Therapist. I found a distant learning course that cost £5500.
Does anyone know if i can get any help with funding for this course ?
I cant get a Career Devlopment loan as the course dont come under learning Skills Council.

this depends what kind of job you want. if it's as an NHS nutritionist/ dietician, start by checking the course meets their needs and isn't one they'd see as 'alternative'
you could get a student loan if its your first degree and you went full time, maybe doing your job in free time to top up your income?Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

You need to make sure that any course is recognised by the Nutritional Therapy Council and there's a list on their website www.nutritionaltherapycouncil.org.uk
There are distance learning courses there that are eligible for a Career Development Loan so you would be best to do one of those. I'd talk it over with a Careers Adviser first; it's a lot of money, particularly in a recession.0 -
Make sure the course or training is the one you want and also check the background of the company giving the training and also maybe read up and search about them online. I have seen alot of people takes courses etc which have not been good.0

It's not so much whether the course is good as much as whether it's recognised.0 -
MY advice is to consider the course but also find out if it can earn you extra money immediately after. For instance, I have just completed an accountancy course with the OU but there are still other exams and much experience to gain before I can expect more money. Find out if your course will give you access to a better job straight away, or whether you'll need to do other things after.0

Thanks Everyone that has replied,
I know the coures is Credited for by the Nutritonal Thearpy Council and that I should be able to work straight after doing it. (It takes 2 years)
Im going to see someone from the company on thursday to make sure this is deff for me.
I dont have any loans or Debt and can carry on working while doing the course. It just scary the amount of money to start with !!!!
I do think doing Nutrional Therapy is a good way to go, seeing as this nation has a problem with the number of over weight people.0
