What is "6 month trial period".

Can somebody please clarify for me, if a contract reads that there is a trial period of 6 months and the start date is 21.07.08, when is the trial period up? I.e. is it 26 weeks or is it 21.01.09.

Depends whether you are paid monthly or weekly. As this is the Jobseeking forum, that suggests it'll be 26 weeks. But if you'll be only receiving wages then it is more likely to be six months.

Thanks for the reply. I am asking on behalf of my daughters colleague (but it might affect my daughter too). They are paid monthly.

I sometimes enter this into contracts for staff. We pay staff monthly, and I would enter an end date of 20/01/09 for that start date.

It may of course be different where your daughter works.
